B.E.A.C.H. is run entirely by volunteers
and help is always appreciated. The following volunteer opportunities are currently available:

Marine Debris Sorting
Volunteers are needed to help sort marine debris from natural debris. Contact B.E.A.C.H. on 393 2168 for more details.
Kahuku Beach volunteer project

Internships
Internships are on a completely volunteer basis only, as are all the positions with B.E.A.C.H., no one is paid. B.E.A.C.H. does not arrange accomodation. Interns can assist with any of the following activities:

Research
Sorting, identifying, and recording data on different types of marine debris.

Outreach help at display booths
Volunteers are needed to help at the booth, set-up and pack-up at different events. Volunteers need to complete a 1.5 hr. training session.

Administrative assistance
Database entry and maintenance, grant writing, and basic bookkeeping.

Development of educational materials
Writing, illustrating, creating handouts for schools and the public to raise awareness of marine debris.

Educational presentations
Volunteers give presentations about marine debris, litter prevention, and invasive algae in schools, at beach clean-ups and to community groups.

Board members
People who are interested in taking an active role in B.E.A.C.H. and are willing to donate 10 hours per month.

B.E.A.C.H. is a certifying organization for the President's Volunteer Service Award.

Minimum number of volunteer hours over a 12 month (Jan. 1st - Dec. 31st) period to receive the:

Bronze Award:
50 hours - children (under 14 yrs.)
100 hours - adults


Silver Award:
75 hours - children
175 hours - young adults (15 - 25 yrs.)

250 hours - adults

Gold Award:
100 hours - children
250 hours - young adults

500 hours - adults
