Summer 2008 Outreach Events


Ocean Day
B.E.A.C.H. was invited to have a table display at Ocean Day by PACON International, Ala Moana Hotel on 4th June, 2008. B.E.A.C.H. volunteers helped raise awareness to conference delegates of the problems plastics have on the marine environment. PACON International, in partnership with a variety of ocean-related organizations, sponsored the seminar and reception in recognition of the very significant role the ocean plays in the lives of Hawaii’s people, economy, culture, history, and traditions.



Hawai`i Conservation Conference
B.E.A.C.H. had a table display at the 2008 Hawai`i Conservation Conference, Hawai`i Convention Center on 29th-31st July. B.E.A.C.H. volunteers educated conference participants about the impact of plastic on marine life and sea birds and solutions to lessen disposable plastics in the environment.



Sunset on the Beach
On 31st August, B.E.A.C.H. had an information table at Sunset on the Beach, Waikiki. The evening was sponsored by International Year of the Reef Hawai`i. Volunteers talked with people about solutions to lessen plastic pollution such as using reusable shopping bags.
