Makai Pier/Makapu`u Beach Clean-up - November 2007

Makai Pier/Makapu`u Beach Clean-up
& litter prevention campaign
Sunday 4th November 2007

This clean-up was a continuation of the cigarette butt litter prevention campaign from October 27th's "Make a Difference Day" clean-up at Makapu`u Beach. Volunteers picked up 413 cigarette butts compared with the prior week's clean-up of 3418 butts.

Volunteers braved very windy conditions at Makai Pier to remove marine debris and beach goer trash from the coastline in order to protect marine birds and animals as well as make the area safer for beach goers.

Rain and very strong winds forced volunteers to have pre and post clean-up meetings in the Matson container.
